In the Microsoft Word XP – Level 2 course, students will learn to work with graphics, section breaks, columns, bookmarks, headers and footers, create watermarks, create and format tables, modify table structure, edit table settings, perform calculations in tables, create and import worksheets in Word, organize documents in Outline View, and create outline style numbered Lists. A practice exercise and questions are included at the end of each lesson. These activities will help students measure their own progress and reinforce learning. There is also a lab exercise to help students practice using most of the features they have learned in the course. OF INTEREST TO: Those who are interested in the most up-to-date office word processing environment. COURSE AIMS: To provide an overview, beyond an introductory level, to the Word XP software program, and its application, within the Windows environment. COURSE CONTENT: Lesson 1: Using Clip Art; Create Drawings; Formatting Graphics Lesson 2: Using Section Breaks; Using Columns; Using Bookmarks Lesson 3: Using Headers and Footer; Page Numbering with Headers and Footers; Formatting Headers and Footer; Creating Watermarks Lesson 4: Creating and Formatting Tables; Modifying Table Structure; Editing Table Settings; Performing Calculations in Tables Lesson 5: Using Documents for a Merge; Merging Documents; Merging Documents Using Alternate Data Sources; Generating Labels and Directories Lesson 6: Creating and Importing Worksheets in Word; Organizing Documents in Outline View; Creating Outline Style Numbered Lists Lab Exercise COURSE NOTES: A course manual is provided as an ongoing reference. A certificate is issued upon the student’s completion of the course and on attaining a pass mark of 75% or higher for the final assessment. PREREQUISITES: It is advised that students have completed an Introduction to Windows, and Microsoft Word 2002 – Level 1 courses.
