Punctuation & Writing Skills COURSE INTRODUCTION:- This course will assist students in learning the fundamentals of punctuation and writing. Students will learn punctuation rules, commonly misspelled and confused words, English grammar, and elements of effective writing style. SUITABLE FOR:- Those who wish to learn the fundamentals of clear and correct writing. Those who need practice with English syntax. COURSE AIM:- To give the student the skills needed for accurate and effective written communication. COURSE CONTENT: Lesson 1: Capitalization; End Marks; Commas; Semicolons; Colons; Quotation Marks; Parentheses and Brackets; Dashes; Mixed Punctuation Lesson 2: Words Containing “ie” and “ei”; Prefixes and Suffixes; Apostrophes; Hyphens; Commonly Misspelled Words; Homonyms Lesson 3: Acronyms and Abbreviations; Idioms; Context Clues; More on Root Words, Prefixes, and Suffixes; The Positive, Comparative, and Superlative Forms of Adjectives; More Common Problem Words Lesson 4: Nouns and Pronouns; Verbs; Other Parts of Speech; Sentences; Phrases and Clauses; Sentence Errors Lesson 5: Unity; Transitional Terms; Types of Sentences; Slant; Levels of Language; Good Habits for Writers COURSE NOTES:- Course material is provided as an ongoing reference. A certificate is issued upon the student’s completion of the course and on attaining a pass mark of 75% or higher for the final assessment.
