Adobe Photoshop 7

COURSE INTRODUCTION:-

In this course, students learn the basic aspects of digital image manipulation using Adobe Photoshop 7.0.

As the student progresses through the course, they become familiar with the Photoshop 7.0 interface, learn practical techniques for editing photographs, and become skilled at using Photoshop’s tools and features to apply interesting effects to images.  In addition, students become knowledgeable about the fields of computer graphics and image editing.

This course consists of twelve lessons, a lab, and a final exam.  As the student works through the lessons in this course, they are given ample opportunity to practice, apply, and develop their graphic development skills.  A practice exercise and questions are included at the end of each lesson to reinforce the concepts covered and to help students measure their progress.

To provide an introduction to Adobe Photoshop, present the basic concepts behind computer graphics and image editing, and provide the techniques to create compelling graphical content for print and for the Web

Photoshop Overview; Opening, Finding, and Creating New Files; Working in the Photoshop Environment; Workspace and Tool Presets; Using Resizing Buttons; Navigator Palette and Other Navigation Tools; Rulers, Guides, and Grids; Reverting and Getting Help in Photoshop

Lesson 2:  

Opening Files; the File Browser; Working with Multiple Files and Windows; Displaying File Information with the Status Bar; Saving Files and Working with Multiple Versions; Understanding File Formats; Leaving Written and Spoken Notes

Lesson 3:

Using the Marquee Tools; Adding, Subtracting, Rotating, and Moving Selections; Deleting, Deselecting, and Saving a Selection; Moving, Cutting, Copying, and Pasting a Selection; Selecting with the Magic Wand, and Colour Range and Lasso; Inverting, Expanding, Contracting, and Scaling a Selection; Distorting and Feathering a Selection; Extracting an Object

Understanding Pixels and Vectors; Image Resolution; Working with the Canvas; Applying the Unsharp Mask Filter

Lesson 5:

Understanding the Two Types of Colour; Calibrating Your Monitor; Colour Settings; The Colour Palette; Using the Colour Ramp and the Colour Picker; The Paint Bucket Tool

Lesson 6:

Understanding Layers; Creating, Renaming, and Deleting Layers; Linking and Merging Layers; Adjustment Layers; Grouping with Previous Layers; Creating a Layer from Cutting or Copying; Working with Text.

COURSE NOTES:-

A course manual is provided as an ongoing reference.

A certificate is issued upon the student’s completion of the course and on attaining a pass mark of 75% or higher for the final assessment.

PREREQUISITES.

To ensure successful completion of this course, it is advised that students first complete an introductory Windows course
